Course Description:

Using MySQL, this course covers ANSI/SQL where students will learn, through hands-on tasks and lectures, the SQL statements to create a database and tables; retrieve from and modify data in relational databases, aggregate and group data using summary functions; data integrity and database normalization principles; query optimization and use of indexes; and transaction management and locking schemes.

Upon completion, you will:

  1. Learn how to use SQL to work with relational databases.
  2. Learn how to install MySQL and interact with databases.
  3. Learn how to create, edit, and delete databases and tables.
  4. Learn how to query and filter data from one or multiple tables.
  5. Learn how to aggregate and group data using summary functions.
  6. Learn how to perform data conversion and manipulation.
  7. Better understand indexes, constraints, and views.

Student Expectations:
